Concerns raised over UK’s Voluntary National Review of the SDGs

The International Development Committee publishes a letter to the Secretary of State for International Development, Rt Hon. Penny Mordaunt MP, highlighting concerns and making informal recommendations in relation to the UK’s Voluntary National Review on the SDGs, an assessment of UK progress on the Goals, to be presented at the United Nations in July.

The letter expresses concerns about the VNR process, including:

  • Its compressed timeline;
  • Lack of meaningful stakeholder engagement;
  • Limited coordination across Government;

It also highlights the need for the VNR to provide a substantive assessment of the UK’s progress towards the SDGs and a comprehensive forward plan for implementation.

The Committee’s inquiry into UK Progress on the Sustainable Development Goals continues. The letter is published here: UK Voluntary National Review on the Sustainable Development Goals (PDF PDF 191 KB)Opens in a new window.
