Calling Scotland’s circular pioneers – Innovators Magazine

Scotland has been recognised as a leading circular economy nation. It picked up the Circular Government Award at this year’s Circulars and was the first country to join the Circular Economy 100 (CE100) club: an initiative from the Ellen MacArthur Foundation to encourage collaboration and new ideas.

Innovators Magazine – in partnership with the Herald – is now looking for the country’s most exciting circular economy pioneers to apply for the circular breakthrough award, part of the upcoming Global Game Changers awards – being held in Glasgow this September. It will recognise a company accelerating the shift to a circular economy.

The Global Game Changers awards will recognise the innovation economy’s importance in delivering a sustainable future for all – especially those making an impact within the context of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Speaking about the awards for a special feature in our upcoming edition – which will be distributed at the World Congress on Industrial Biotechnology in Montréal,  Councillor Susan Aitken, Leader of Glasgow City Council and City Convener for Inclusive Economic Growth, told Innovators: “Glasgow is a perfect choice for this event given our centuries-long tradition in innovation. From the steam engine to the fridge to thermodynamics and the ultrasound, the city has long been synonymous with new discovery and invention.

“We continue that work today, with two innovation districts in the city tied to the University of Glasgow and the University of Strathclyde conducting world leading research in the life sciences, stratified medicine, and quantum technology. These districts are committed to looking for the next breakthroughs and their work has the support of the City Government that I lead.

“We are delighted that Glasgow is to host these awards as the city continues to be a global game changer itself.”
